The Bold 9700: Worth the Upgrade?

The latest Berry to hit the market actually arrived a few weeks ago, the Bold 9700. It is being dubbed as the "flagship" device for RIM, but does it actually fit the bill? Should Bold 9000 users feel the need to upgrade? Lets way in on this one.

I'm am a proud and faithful Bold 9000 user, so of course I was ecstatic when the 9700 came to market....that is of course until I actually handled the device for myself.

What attracted people to the Bold 9000 was its...well...boldness. The size, weight, the feel of the 9000 in your hand and you know you are holding the most powerful BlackBerry on the market. When I held the 9700, I felt like I was in possession of a Curve. The 9700 is much smaller and lighter, the keyboard feels much narrower and I just was not into it. Yes, the trackpad is nice instead of the traditional trackball, but still not enough to warrant a switch of devices.

So Bold 9000 users, should you upgrade? My answer would be no. This device and the one you have now are basically the same minus the trackpad and BB software 5.0. But considering the 5.0 upgrade for the Bold 9000 will be hitting the At&T website in the coming weeks, I think you'll be fine. My upgrade is coming up in a few short months and unless a real successor to the 9000 hits the market (9050 with a trackpad perhaps?) I will be upgrading to yet another 9000, in white of course.

As for any other BB users, say Curve guys, you might as well go with the 9700. It will feel like a true upgrade for you, similar in size to your Curve yet it boasts 3G speeds and a nicer keyboard.

Are you a Bold 9700 fan? Do you want to defend your decision? Post your thoughts in a reply and let me know.

Let's Get Digital

Not much has happened in Berry world within the last week. In a few days I should have some news due to the MWC (Mobile World Conference) currently taking place over in Spain.

However, I did learn a new trick today that I'm actually pretty surprised I did not know before due to the fact that I've been a Bold user for over a year.

When you plug in your BlackBerry to charge (usually the new generation Berrys do this, so Bold, Tour, Storm users, you know what I'm talking about), the screen goes to an analog clock to suggest either Bedside mode or just Standby. I always HATED the analog clock. I couldn't read it easily and I thought it was big and ugly, so I always pressed the end button to go back to my homescreen. I found out today that if you go into Options when in the Clock application, you can change the clock from analog, to DIGITAL. Who would have known huh......I guarantee I will be using my Bold as an alarm clock more often now that I can actually read it.....

What This Thing Is All About.

So, welcome everyone to my blog. This is a big moment considering my blog topic is pretty close to my heart....and I fully mean that. My BlackBerry is definitely my prized possession, and for all of you out there who have one, I'm sure you feel the same way. Basically, if you can't stop BBMing, texting, emailing, just can't get your thumbs off that QWERTY keyboard in general, if you love your BlackBerry so much but you still are checking to see when the next one is going to come out, how they can possibly change the winning formula of what we all love about BlackBerry, if the Storm and Storm2 are always gonna stay on Verizon or if the Bold is always gonna remain on AT&T, and maybe you have a favorite celebrity, they all walk around with BlackBerrys, maybe they have the same one as you? You know you're curious. Just stick with my blog and I promise you you will always be informed and in the know on everything you BlackBerry addicts crave. Are you Berry Addicted? I know I am. So let's do this thing.
